Abul ƙasim (Larabci: ابوالقاسم) alkunya ce ta Annabi Muhammad (s.a.w).[1] Manzon Allah ya sami wannan alkunyar ne bayan Allah ya azurta shi da ɗa mai suna ƙasim.[2] amma a wata ruwaya Shaik Saduƙ yana ganin wannan alkunya ta samu asali ne daga siffar ƙasim saboda imani ko kafir cewa Annabi yana raba mutane zuwa gida biyu ‘yan wuta da ‘yan aljanna.[3]

Bisa abin da Muhammad ɗan Ali Al'ardabili ya kawo a cikin littafin Jami'ul Ruwwat cewa wannan alkunya ta Abul ƙasim an jinginata zuwa ga Imam Sajjad (A.S)[4] sannan kuma akayi anfani da ita kan Imamul Mahadi.[5] Bisa abin da Inayatullah Alƙahbani malamin ilmin rijal na shi'a a ƙarni na 11 ya kawo cewa wanann alkunya ta Abul ƙasim anfi anfani da ita ga Imam Mahadi fiye da Manzon Allah.[6] shiek Hurrul Amili a cikin wasa'ili shi'a yana cewa, makaruhi ne a haɗa kunyar Abu ƙasim da kums sunan Muhammad.[7]
